Description
From Niagara Furniture, a Teak Antique Knockdown Armoire. This armoire, which appears to be about 200 years old, has been produced using all hand tools. This is evidenced by the many planing marks left in the wood by the original builder. Beautifully constructed, and using great quality timber, the armoire was originally built to be taken apart into smaller sections so that it can be easily transported and also, in on order to be able to move it into homes with narrower staircases and smaller doorways. The Teak Antique Knockdown Armoire appears to have been repaired and restored around the turn of the last century, viewing the pictures you can see the repair work done around the locking mechanisms as examples of the restoration.
Teak wood has been used for furniture construction for centuries as the wood is well known for it’s hardness and resistance to insect infestation.
